The Blues scored two goals in 38 seconds late in the third period, and Lee Stempniak scored in overtime on the power play as the Blues come back to defeat the New York Islanders 3-2 Thursday night in Long Island.
With the Islanders up 2-0 with less than three minutes remaining, it looked as if the Blues were going to suffer another debilitating loss. But Jay McClement gathered a rebound and stuck it past Islanders' goalie Rick DiPietro to cut the lead to 2-1. Then 38 seconds later, Doug Weight slapped a shot from the left point that Petr Cajanek deflected past DiPietro to tie the game at two. With 11 seconds left in regulation, DiPietro was called for holding the stick of Brad Boyes, which put the Blues on the power play going into overtime. 25 seconds into the overtime session, Lee Stempniak one-timed a shot past DiPietro to win it for the Blues. Stempniak's goal was his team-leading 20th goal of the season.
The Blues now will travel across town to Manhattan to take on the New York Rangers in a Saturday afternoon tilt. The puck drops at 12 P.M. CT.

Alright Nick,
The million dollar question? Do you believe the Blues will make it into the playoffs this year? I honestly think they have great management and will definetly be a contender next year. I just wish they played the way they are now earlier this season, because they would definetly be contenders.
YES! Go BLUES!

What's with Metropolit taking a penalty shot? I felt like an Islanders fan after that shootout.
